Walk to celebrate Hanoi's 1000th anniversary Nearly 10,000 people will join a walk to the statue of King Ly Thai To on June 13 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.It was announced at a press briefing in Hanoi on June 9 that the participants including students, schoolchildren, athletes, coaches, and staff from numerous embassies and consulates in the country will walk along the main streets in Hoan Kiem lake.A similar walk was also held in HCM City in mid-May and made a deep impression on the city's citizens.The programme has been co-organised by the Vietnam Sports Newspaper and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and sponsored by the Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Sports Newspaper with Q-Mobile from the An Binh Telecommunications being the main sponsor for the event. |

4,000 more luxury hotel rooms operational in Hanoi in 2010 Hanoi will offer additional 4,000 high-quality hotel rooms this year to serve the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and National Tourism Year 2010. The city now has about 800 accommodation facilities of all kinds with over 16,000 rooms, of which 213 star-rated hotels offer 10,000 rooms. US$1.1 million allocated to preserving Thang Long Royal citadel
The US$1.1 million project funded by the Japanese Trust Fund, will contribute to preserving the Thang Long Royal citadel and maintaining the nearby community’s development.
The project “Preservation of the Cultural Heritage Complex of Thang Long-Hanoi” was signed in Hanoi on January 20 by UNESCO and the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee.

Flower festival marks 1,000 years of Thang Long-Hanoi A flower festival to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi will be held around Hoan Kiem Lake in central Hanoi from December 30, 2009 to January 3, 2010. This will be the first of over 80 cultural events in Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide to mark the capital city’s birthday in 2010.
